Hamilton Honor Guard receives money from local brewery

The Hamilton Honor Guard unit received a financial boost from a local business last week, as the owners of Municipal Brew Works presented the unit with a $500 check to help with its operations.

The Hamilton Honor Guard’s commander, Deputy Chief Jeff Shaw, accepted a check from Municipal Brew Works co-owner Jim Goodman at the brewery.

“We are very proud to make a donation to the Hamilton Fire Department Honor Guard through the proceeds made from the sale of our Station 2 Rye Pale Ale,” Goodman said. “Cheers to them. We appreciate their service to our community.”

Tony Harris, president of the IAFF Local 20, which represents Hamilton firefighters, said the guard unit plays an important role in the community as it represents law enforcement and firefighters during funeral services and various ceremonies and public events.

“We can’t express enough appreciation to Municipal Brew Works for their generous donation to be used towards the Hamilton Fire Department Honor Guard,” Harris said. “We are beyond grateful for their continuous support and to be associated with such an amazing group of people and business.”

The Honor Guard also attends the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Maryland and the International Association of Firefighters Memorial in Colorado.
