HAMILTON — Kettering Health Network is “aggressively” conducting a search for the next top official at The Fort Hamilton Hospital, while there’s no word yet on whether the hospital’s senior vice president will stay or go.

Lynn Oswald, who has been Fort Hamilton’s senior vice president five years, announced she was stepping down Oct. 18.

She reportedly is considering other opportunities with Kettering Health. Oswald also has been working to transition her responsibilities to Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Marilyn Schwemberger, who was named acting senior site executive, said Marielou Vierling, a hospital spokeswoman.

It is not clear when Oswald’s decision would be made or when a new executive would be named, however, “they want to fill the position as soon as possible,” Vierling said.

Also unknown is whether the next top leader would carry the same title of senior vice president.

The Fort Hamilton Hospital became part of the Dayton-based Kettering Health Network on July 1 after severing its ties earlier in the year because of financial considerations with the former Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati.

Fred Manchur, incoming CEO of Kettering Health Network, has mentioned candidates from California for the top Hamilton position, Vierling said. Manchur has held leadership positions at three Seventh-day Adventist hospitals in the Los Angeles area.

The changing leadership is part of the transition to the new network. Other recent steps in the process include finalizing benefits for all employees Oct. 21. The next step is for a new payroll system next year, which means there will be new associate numbers and badges by year’s end, Vierling added.

There might be more information by week’s end once Manchur returns to town, said Kevin Lavoie, a Kettering Health spokesman.
