AK Steel to raise prices for carbon steel

WEST CHESTER — AK Steel said Thursday, Nov. 19, it will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products, effective Jan. 1.

The company in a press release said it will increase base prices for hot-rolled products by $20 per ton. Base prices for cold-rolled and coated products will climb by $30 per ton over the current spot-market price, a news release states.

On Nov. 16, the steel producer announced that it plans to increase prices on its 200-, 300- and 400-series flat rolled stainless steel products on Jan. 3. It will raise those prices by between 6 and 9 percent, the company said. Also on Nov. 16, AK Steel announced it will raise the price for automotive exhaust grade steel by 4 cents per pound.
