Supermarket News reports Generative Growth LLC purchased the stores for about $8 million in an auction as part of Marsh Supermarkets bankruptcy proceedings .
Generative Growth, which will operate the stores under the Fresh Encounters name, also purchased 10 Remke Markets in the Cincinnati area in February.
Generative Growth will acquire stores located at 621 N. University Blvd. in Middletown; 223 Aukerman in Eaton; and 982 N. Market in Troy.
Eleven other Marsh’s core stores are slated to be sold to Topvalco Inc., a Kroger subsidiary company, for $16 million.
After closing 19 stores, Marsh put 44 stores up for sale after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings last month.
