Earlier: Gorka latest aide to resign from White House
“(G)iven recent events, it is clear to me that forces that do not support the MAGA promise are - for now - ascendant within the White House. As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House.”
Gorka worked for former presidential adviser Steve Bannon at the conservative activist site Breitbart.com. Gorka had been a controversial pick for the administration. He previously tried politics in Hungary, and was accused of having ties to a far-right group that was connected to Nazis, which he ferverently denied. He was later denied a position in the Hungarian government because he couldn’t pass a security clearance.
The Hill wrote Gorka was disdained by most of the Washington national security establishment, including national security adviser and former Lt. General H.R. McMaster.
Bannon and McMaster often argued over Gorka’s presence in the White House. After John Kelly became Trump’s chief of staff, Bannon was forced out. Bannon also claimed he resigned, which was also disputed by some in the White House.
Politico reported Gorka would rejoin Bannon at Breitbart, where he once was a writer concerning national security issues.
