Event celebrates 20 years of Union Centre interchange

West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance’s annual dinner this week with a focus on the impending 20th anniversary of Union Centre Boulevard interchange and how it continues to serve as a catalyst for growth.

The event is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday at Cincinnati Marriott North, 6189 Muhlhauser Road, West Chester Twp.

Opened in 1997, the interchange’s contribution to West Chester Twp. and to the region as a whole is inestimable, according to Joe Hinson, the chamber’s president and CEO.

Hinson said the $24 million project was the first new interchange built on Interstate 75 in southwestern Ohio in more than 25 years, and continues to be one of the most important factors in the rapid growth of the Interstate 75 Corridor.

“Our region has witnessed a relentless rush to the middle over the last two decades, driven by the opening of UCB in November 1997,” Hinson said. “The economic impact has been tremendous.”

The event will share the story of how the Union Centre Boulevard interchange was constructed in only eight months and recap its impact on the region. It also will delve into future plans for not just the interchange, but the surrounding area, as well.
