October is full of festivals and other opportunities in our area to celebrate the fall and Halloween seasons — and having fun doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Here is a sampling of six local events and venues where you can find ways to save, or have fun for free.

What: Ohio Renaissance Festival

When: 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday; now through Sunday, Oct. 21

Ways to save:

  • Purchase a 4-Person Discount Combo Ticket Package online for $120. Save more than 10 percent off the retail price of $133.96 with this combo package. For $120, you’ll receive: four admissions (adult or child); four food entrees; four soft drinks; four frozen ice cream desserts; and four coupons for 10 percent off the purchase of a festival souvenir from Willy Nilly’s Wares & Gifts, Lil Willy’s, or Treasures of the Realm.   • Pick up event coupons at any local United Dairy Farmers, Papa John’s or Wendy’s, to receive $16.99 each for adult’s tickets and $8.99 each for children’s tickets at the gate.

What: Pumpkin Fest (offers hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkins and more)

When: Noon to 6 p.m., every Saturday in October; open by reservation during the week

Ways to save: Normal pricing for an all inclusive hayride, which includes a hayride, corn maze and any size pumpkin, costs $ 7.95 per person. A basic hayride, which includes a hayride and corn maze, costs $4.95 per person. Save in these ways:

  • A group discount is offered Monday through Friday for $5.95 per person for a minimum of 20 people. This includes a hayride, corn maze, a pie pumpkin (a small pumpkin), and a snack of popcorn per person.

  • If you “check in” on Facebook while you are at Wayne Ave. Haunted Butcher House, you will get a $2 off coupon for your next visit.

This does not include picking your own pumpkin. These wristbands provide about a 15 to 20 percent discount.
