BARS AND CLUBS
By Aaron Epple

The Four Entertainment Group (4EG), which owns several bars and restaurants throughout the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region, will be giving prospective revelers the opportunity to sample all several establishments at one scenic location: downtown’s Fountain Square. The success of the inaugural event last year prompted 4EG to bring it back.
“We had a lot of customers that would come in and ask about (4EG’s) other locations,” said 4EG Entertainment Director Morri McDowell. “We tried it for the first time last year, and it was such a success that we decided to do it twice this year. The first time was in May.”
On Fountain Square, each of the establishments will be re-created via tents with furnishings from the establishment. Each tent will have a featured cocktail and a representative from that bar.
Checking into the event either on Facebook or in person will give participants the chance to win a gift card for drink specials for all locations and the opportunity to become “mayor” of a 4EG location, which will be good for a $50 4EG gift card. In addition to the live music, McDowell stressed the event will be family-friendly, as well.
“There will be face painting and putt-putt,” she said. “We like it to be for families and adults alike.”
The participating establishments are as follows:
aliveOne, a bar in Mount Adams.
The facts: aliveOne features 75 local and national microbrews and an “all live” jukebox, featuring only live recordings of the best bands in rock history. They also have a location in Chicago.
Keystone Bar and Grill, a restaurant in Hyde Park and Covington, Ky.
The facts: Both locations will be represented on the square and both have extensive quesadilla and mac and cheese menus. The former features everything from Rueben to veggie to Philly-style. But if you have a hankering for the latter, choose from the Black Sabbath, the B.B. King, the Nirvana, the Green Day and several others.
The Righteous Room, a bar in downtown Cincinnati.
Fun facts: Located across from the Aronoff Center for the Arts and catering to young professionals, the Righteous Room offers a rock jukebox, DJs and a long list of specialty cocktails.
The Lackman, a bar in Over-the-Rhine/downtown.
The facts: Located on the first floor of the Lackman Building, built by local brewer Herman Lackman 100 years ago, The Lackman is the newest addition to the Gateway Quarter, that area of urban renewal that connects downtown Cincinnati to the historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. Preserving much of the floor’s architectural style, the Lackman specializes in microbrews, wines and local and national indie rock.
The Stand, a bar in Mount Lookout.
The facts: This bar where you can watch the game or shoot pool on a table with red felt is located on Mount Lookout Square, a lively business district known for its, restaurants, clubs and specialty shops.
The Sandbar, a restaurant located east of Cincinnati, near Coney Island.
The facts: Perhaps the most down-home of the 4EG establishments, the Sandbar specializes in comfort food and drinks (i.e. burgers, baskets of fries, and buckets of beer). They’re also known for their organized beach volleyball leagues.
Tap & Go, a bar in Mount Adams.
The facts: A bar that’s partnered with the Cincinnati Wolfhounds and emphatic about its support for rugby in general while hosting live music and artistic performances that defy definition.
Mt. Adams Pavilion, a restaurant in Mount Adams.
The facts: One of the most popular bars in the area, the Mt. Adams Pavilion is known for its several patio decks that overlook the city. Foodwise, they’re particularly known for their gyros.
