WEST CHESTER TWP. — EnterTRAINment Junction can now turn the world sideways and get people lost in a glut of punching bags.

And if that sounds zany, that’s exactly the idea.

The train-themed attraction, just off Interstate 75’s Tylersville Road exit, opened the A-Maze-N FunHouse this week, a collection of mazes themed around the circus.

The funhouse is just to the left of the main entrance, where the Victorian and Christmas mazes have been located. The Christmas maze is still in place and figures in the new attraction. But the circus theme dominates the remainder.

The entrance will be decked out in circus tents, and to the right, visitors can peak through the glass at a Christmas display, which will be open year-round, said Bill Balfour, the general manager of EnterTRAINment Junction.

From there, visitors can check out any number of circus-themed mazes, but they don’t have to do so in any particular order.

When the junction had a funhouse-type attraction in its early days, “a lot of parents with little kids said they were scared of the black light. They would say, ‘Mommy I don’t want to go in there,’ ” Balfour said.

Now, guests can check out any rooms they choose in any order.

The first stop, Curtain Chaos, is a maze that looks simple enough. Long red and white curtains drape the passageways.

“You think, ‘How big a deal could this be?’ ” Balfour said. “All you’ve got to do is figure out how to weave your way though it.”

Bill Mefford, EnterTRAINment’s publicist, laughed and teased, “Oh yeah, that’s all you’ve got to do,” hinting at how difficult the maze might be.

Next up is what might be the zaniest room, Clown College, it is filled with optical illusions. One room uses forced perspective to make guests seem taller or shorter as they walk through it, and another room is tilted at a steep angle to make people look like they’re walking sideways.

Showing a clown display with balls, Balfour demonstrated just how off kilter the room is. “When you let go of the ball, it looks like it’s rolling up,” he said.

Adjacent to Clown College is a mirror maze, which has confounded the people who built it. There are what appear to be two entrances there — but are they really two entrances?

“We might put a sign up that says Entry A and Entry B,” Mefford said.

Finally, there’s Outer Limits: Journey through the Black Hole, which takes guests through laser lights, spinning tunnels and dark vortexes, with some interstellar facts posted on the walls.

Throughout March, admission to the A-Maze-N FunHouse will be $4.95 — 50 percent off the regular price of $9.95.
