HAMILTON — One of the area’s only drive-in theaters is planning a celebration for New Year’s Eve.

The Holiday Auto Theatre, 1816 Old Oxford Road, announced Thursday it will hand out hats, horns and apple cider toast to ring in the new year. A quadruple feature will be shown, as well as a nostalgic New Year’s Eve countdown film.

This is the fifth New Year’s celebration at the drive-in and it has become a family-friendly tradition, said Todd Chancey, Holiday Auto Theatre owner and operator.

The lineup of movies begins at 5:30 p.m.: “Happy Feet Two,” “The Muppets,” “New Year’s Eve,” and “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.” The complimentary party favors and apple cider toast is expected to be handed out and the 1940’s era countdown film shown before the last movie. Children will also receive a complimentary glow necklace.

Costs are $8 for ages 12 and up, $5 for children ages 4-11 and free admission for children under age 3. The box office opens at 4:45 p.m. every night and closes at the beginning of the final movie.
