Timeline of Mike Fox’s political career

1974: The longest serving state lawmaker in Butler County history — 23 years — Fox, of Hamilton, was first elected to Ohio House of Representatives at age 25.

1993: Founded Butler County Transportation Improvement District, which led to a highway built from Hamilton to Interstate 75. It was named for him, but political opponents successfully later had his name removed.

1997: Fox left the legislature under scandal after accepting airline tickets and lodging from a lobbyist.

1997: Returns home to Butler County to become a commissioner. Becomes biggest proponent of installing fiber optics communication lines across county.

2005: FBI begins investigation of potential bank fraud, other crimes, involving the county and Dynus Corp., a company involved with the county’s fiber optics lines.

2007: Fox steps down from the county commission to take over Butler County Children Services.

2008: County Auditor Kay Rogers pleads guilty to bank and mail fraud, and tax evasion, involving the Dynus Corp., and resigns. FBI investigates Fox involvement in the case.

March 2009: Fox resigns from Children Services.

October 2009: Federal indictments returned against Fox, alleging mail fraud, tax evasion and improperly benefitting from contracts with Butler County companies. The indictments relate in part to dealings with NORMAP, a fiber optics company that was a predecessor to Dynus, but there is nothing related to Dynus. The companies are seperate entities and unrelated.
