FAIRFIELD – Police here arrested a 40-year-old man who initially refused to relinquish his weapon Saturday, Feb. 6, leading to a SWAT team standoff, according to Fairfield police.
Officers responded around 10 p.m. to a home in the 1600 block of Hunter Road to check on the welfare of an emotionally unstable man and found Kelly Fible in an upstairs bedroom.
Police said officers attempted to engage Fible in conversation but as they approached, he drew a firearm and held it to his head.
Police said officers exited the home but continued to speak with Fible, unsuccessfully trying to get him to leave the home. The Hamilton-Fairfield SWAT Team was called in to help; several streets were shut down and neighboring homes were evacuated, police said.
Once in position, SWAT team members negotiated Fible’s exit from the home and he was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Fible was charged with inducing panic and transported to the Butler County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
