HAMILTON — A Butler County grand jury will consider the case of a Hamilton man accused of stabbing another man last week.

Edgar Smiley, 38, of the 200 block of Pershing Avenue, was arrested Nov. 3 and charged with felonious assault for allegedly stabbing Christian Goolsby in the abdomen.

Goolsby, 37, of the 200 block of Hampshire Drive, was transported by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Hamilton Officer Rich Burkhardt said Thursday, Nov. 12, Goolsby is out of the hospital and expected to recover.

Smiley appeared in Hamilton Municipal Court on Thursday and waived his right to a preliminary hearing, so his case was automatically sent to a Butler County Common Pleas Court grand jury.

Police were called shortly before 9 p.m. Nov. 3 to an apartment in the 500 block of South Front Street after a woman called 911 and told dispatchers a man had been stabbed.

Burkhardt said the men were friends and got into an argument. No further details have been released by police.

Smiley has been released on bond from the Butler County Jail.
