WAYNE TWP. — A 47-year-old Middletown woman — arrested after a Wayne Twp. man was critically shot this past weekend — remained in jail Tuesday afternoon.
Cynthia Lee Turner, 47, of the 100 block of South Heinkel Road, remained in the Butler County Jail following a Tuesday afternoon arraignment at which her bond was set at $51,000, officials said.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday in Area I Court in Oxford in connection with the shooting Gregory Manns, 52, who police describe as Turner’s boyfriend.
Turner was arrested a at the scene on Oxford-Middletown Road about 10:40 p.m. Friday night. That was shortly after deputies and emergency medical personnel found Gregory Manns, 52, of the 4000 block of Oxford-Middletown Road, shot in the side, according to the sheriff’s office report.
Manns was in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Tuesday, according to officials.
Turner initially gave several false names, deputies said. When Turner was told she was going to be arrested, deputies said she struggled while being handcuffed.
During questioning by detectives after being transported to the Butler County Jail, Turner confessed to shooting Manns, according to deputies.
Lt. Mike Craft said detectives are still working to determine what occurred at the residence. The initial call placed to dispatchers by a neighbor said the shooting was accidental. He said Turner was staying with Manns at the time and described them and boyfriend and girlfriend.
