HAMILTON — Fairfield undercover agents assisted the Hamilton Police Vice Section in making six arrests as part of a prostitution sting on the east side, according to Hamilton police spokesman Rich Burkhardt.
Three men and three women were arrested between 4:30 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, and charged with soliciting. Amounts offered for sex ranged from $20 to $60, according to police records.
Burkhardt said undercover police from Fairfield posed as both prostitutes and those soliciting sex to help Hamilton vice detectives make the arrests in several “trouble spots.”
The vice squad uses officers from other jurisdictions occasionally so people don’t recognize the undercover agent, Burkhardt said.
The arrest locations included South Ninth and Sycamore streets; Dixie Highway and Belle Avenue; South Seventh and Sycamore streets; Martin Luther King Boulevard and Maple Street; and the 1400 block of South Erie Highway, according to records.
Those arrested were Vanessa Brooks, 27, of Hollowtree Court in Hamilton; Russell Jacob, 64, of Benninghofen Avenue in Hamilton; Valerie Lunsford, 23, of River Downs Drive in Centerville; Edwin Olivera-Rendon, 27, of Waco Way in Hamilton; Derwin Simmons, 36, of Grand Boulvard in Hamilton; and Theresa Smith, 39, of Lulu Avenue in Hamilton.
