FAIRFIELD — Municipal Court Judge Joyce Campbell accepted a guilty plea of today, Feb. 9 for a 40-year-old man charged with inducing panic that resulted in the need of a SWAT team.
She then continued Kelly Fible’s case over to the mental health court for sentencing.
Fible, of Fairfield, had his bond set at $5,000 as Campbell scheduled his next court appearance for 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11.
The mental health court docket is heard by Campbell in a closed courtroom every Thursday.
Fible was arrested Saturday, Feb. 6, in the 1600 block of Hunter Road in Fairfield after an incident that required the assistance of the Hamilton-Fairfield SWAT Team.
Around 10 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to check on a reported emotionally unstable man on Hunter Road. Fible was found in an upstairs bedroom.
Police attempted to talk with Fible, but he drew a firearm and held it to his head. At that point the SWAT team was called.
Several streets near and around Hunter Road were shut down. Neighboring homes were evacuated.
SWAT team members eventually took Fible into custody without incident.
A reason for Fible’s actions is unknown, said Fairfield police spokesman Lt. Ken Gerold.
“He wasn’t very talkative,” he said about Fible when he was taken into custody.
Fible was transported back to the Butler County Jail following his court appearance.
