HAMILTON — A 38-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night stabbing.
Edgar Smiley, of the 200 block of Pershing Avenue, was arrested shortly before midnight following the stabbing of Christian Goolsby, 37, of the 200 Hampshire Drive, according to Hamilton police.
Smiley was charged with felonious assault and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Hamilton Municipal Court on Nov. 11, according to court documents.
Police were called shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, to an apartment in the 500 block of South Front Street after a woman called 911 and told dispatchers a man had been stabbed. At the scene, emergency crews found Goolsby had been stabbed in the abdomen and he was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati, according to police.
Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, Hamilton police released three 911 calls received the night after the stabbing. Two women called for a life squad saying they saw a man had been stabbed in the parking lot. Another woman placed a 911 call stating her boyfriend needed an ambulance.
When the dispatcher asked questions about the medical emergency, the woman said, “I don’t know what’s going on.”
Goolsby’s condition was not available Wednesday. However, witnesses at the scene said Goolsby was sitting up before being transported to the hospital.
Hamilton police spokesman Rich Burkhardt said the assault is believed to have happened at the Front Street address, but could not give any more details.
