HAMILTON — Police are investigating two armed robberies believed to involve the same man.
Police were called at 10:40 p.m. Friday, March 19, to Walgreens at 1090 High St., and at 11:01 to a Marathon gas station, 1405 Millville Ave., in Hamilton.
The robber, described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and armed with a handgun, fled both scenes in a sport utility vehicle, according to Sgt. Craig R. Bucheit.
The robberies occurred just one day after Dennis Ray Cain, 39, of Hamilton was charged with back-to-back robberies at Discount Tobacco on Main St. and Dabbelt’s Superette on North Third Street.
Cain claimed to have a gun when he allegedly robbed the Discount Tobacco store at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, but it remains unknown if he had one. He did, however, brandish a knife 12 minutes later when he allegedly demanded money at Dabbelt’s.
Cain was apprehended after a two-hour stand-off on Thursday when he hid in the attic of a Sixth Street home.
The stand-off ended when officers fired at least six rounds of tear gas into the house after he refused to negotiate with officers.
Cain was booked into the Butler County Jail early Friday, where he remains.
