Driver cleared of vehicular manslaughter in teen’s death

FAIRFIELD — A Hamilton woman accused of striking a West Chester Twp. teenager who later died of his injuries was found not guilty of vehicular manslaughter.

Portia Hudson, 58, was found guilty of disobeying a traffic control device on Thursday, March 18, in Fairfield Municipal Court, according to WKRC-TV Local 12.

Kevin Le, a 16-year-old St. Xavier High School student, was struck Sept. 8, 2009, as he was crossing Ohio 4 when Hudson ran a red light, according to police. Le died Sept. 17 at University Hospital.

Hudson paid a fine of $75 and court costs of $80, and her driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, Local 12 reported.
