Staley’s last known address was on Central Park Avenue in Kettering near Dayton, according to county sources. Staley had no felony record in Montgomery County, but did have a marijuana/hashish case in Kettering Municipal Court.
INITIAL REPORT:
Montgomery County Jail staff tried but were unable to revive a 19-year-old male inmate who had hanged himself Wednesday in his cell, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office records.
This news organization is not naming the deceased until the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has reached his next of kin. They had not reached the inmate’s family by late afternoon Thursday.

The coroner’s office said the man — who did not have a serious criminal record in Montgomery County — was from Dayton, though a sheriff’s office report named his residence as Kettering.
The report said officers were called to a cell at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, when they found the man had hanged himself with a bed sheet tied to the cell door.

Jail personnel used chest compression and were ready to use an AED to try to revive the inmate, according to the report. Dayton Fire Dept. paramedics arrived at 5:10 p.m. and pronounced the man dead at 5:24 p.m.
Coroner’s investigators arrived at 5:52 p.m. and various sheriff’s officer personnel arrived after that. The man’s body was removed at 6:54 p.m.

A Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman said it appeared the man was in jail on a misdemeanor assault case.
A Kettering man, Stephen J. Roudebush, 31, died a week after he was found hanging in his cell in May. Sasha Garvin, 27, died of a bowel obstruction in jail, also in May.
