Warren County woman indicted in fatal domestic violence case

The Warren County woman charged with murdering her ex-husband last week is undergoing mental health treatment.

Mercedes Robb, 35, was indicted Thursday in Warren County Common Pleas Court on charges of aggravated murder and murder.

Robb is accused of murdering her ex-husband, Jason Robb, on Nov. 3 at her home outside Lebanon.

According to jail records, Robb remained in the Warren County Jail on $500,000 bond. However, she was undergoing treatment at Summit Behavioral, a state psychiatric hospital, according to jail officials.

“Summit Behavioral Healthcare provides recovery-based in-patient services to civil and forensic mentally ill adults,” according to the facility’s website.

It was the third fatal case of domestic violence since July in Warren County.

The Robbs divorced in 2013 but continued to battle over custody.

He claimed her mental problems as a reason for him to be granted full custody of their children, 13 and 6 years old.

“My ex-wife’s mental state has steadily declined, and I do not believe her household is stable enough to support our children,” he said in a hand-written motion filed on Oct. 24.

She had not responded at the time of the shooting.

On Nov. 3, she called 911 to report shooting him.

“He’s lying in my front yard,” she told the dispatcher. “I was going to kill myself. I couldn’t do it.”

Investigators said he was there to pick up the children and had no weapon. His car was still running when deputies arrived at the house on Oregonia Road, according to Lt. John Faine of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Faine said he was unaware of why she had been transported to the state hospital or how long she had been there.

The grand jury typically meets on Fridays and reports indictments on Mondays in Warren County. It met Thursday due to Veteran’s Day, Faine said.

Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell did not respond to questions.

She was scheduled for a probable cause hearing Thursday in Lebanon Municipal Court. But the indictment ended this case and began the new one in the common pleas court.

Judge Robert Peeler is to handle the case. No hearings had been scheduled Thursday, according to on-line records.
