Suicidal man arrested following SWAT standoff in Butler Co.

A suicidal man was taken into custody without incident following a SWAT standoff involving in Madison Twp., Butler County Sunday.

Deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Butler County Regional SWAT responded to reports of a suicidal man inside a home in the 7900 block of Thomas Road, around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Following multiple attempts to get the man to surrender, the man, identified as Jeffery Morris, exited the house, and was taken into custody without incident, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.

Morris was charged with inducing panic and having weapons while intoxicated and was booked into the Middletown Jail.

Deputies did not specify how long the standoff lasted.

Thomas Road is back open after an incident that led Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team to respond in Madison Twp.

FIRST REPORT (Jan 1)

Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and a SWAT team are at the scene of a man who has possibly barricaded himself in a house in Madison Twp.

An emergency dispatcher received a call about 4 p.m. about an incident involving a man and possibly his girlfriend at a residence in the 7900 block of Thomas Road, according to Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer.

The female in the residence is reportedly out of the building, but the man and SWAT team remain at the scene. Thomas Road is blocked off to traffic.
