Man faces felony charges after pulling gun on soon-to-be ex-wife in Franklin

A man is in jail after Franklin police say he pulled a loaded handgun on his soon-to-be ex-wife and her friend Tuesday evening, according to a Franklin police department release.

Officers were dispatched to the Auto Zone in the 1000 block of East Second Street in Franklin around 6 p.m. on a report of a man with a gun.

40-year-old Benjamin Cox was arrested when officers arrived and stopped him from fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.

Officers found the loaded handgun while Cox was in custody, according to the release.

Cox will be charged with a fifth degree felony of obstructing official business, fourth degree felonies for disruption of public services and carrying a concealed weapon, and a second degree felony for felonious assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers said Cox will be held without bond until a scheduled video arraignment Friday.
