2 arrested during OVI checkpoint in Franklin

Two drivers were arrested during an OVI checkpoint Friday evening in Franklin.

The two-hour checkpoint was conducted from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday on Ohio 123 east of Interstate 75 in Franklin by the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Lebanon post with assistance from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin police, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Warren County Safe Communities Coalition.

POLICE: Checkpoints aimed at nabbing drivers before they drink

A total of 844 vehicles were checked with four being diverted for suspicion of OVI. Two of the drivers were found to be impaired and charged with OVI.

Officers from participating agencies conducted saturation patrols in the area of the checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, stopping a total of 67 vehicles and arresting five drivers for OVI.

Federal grant money supported the OVI checkpoint and saturation patrols.
