“It is what we are always telling residents. We can’t be everywhere. If you see something, say something. And she knew something wasn’t quite right,” Sgt. Brian Robinson told the Journal-News.

Police were called at about 12:40 p.m. Sunday to Rockford Drive by a neighbor who was reporting suspicious activity. When officers arrived, the suspects dropped the television and other items taken from a nearby home. There was a foot chase and one suspect was apprehended.

Jacob Andrew Marcum, 26, of B Street in Hamilton, was charged with receiving stolen property, obstructing official business, failure to comply with a court order and a bench warrant.

Robinson said officers found a house on Rockford Drive that had been broken into with a crow bar while the residents were at church. A vehicle used by the suspects was impounded and criminal tools were found inside, according to police.

Detectives are still investigating and looking for the second suspect.
