Court dates set for 2 teens found ‘exploring’ Middletown gym at 2 a.m.

UPDATED @ 10:30 a.m. July 12: Court dates were set this morning in Middletown Municipal Court for two Middletown teens charged with breaking and entering into the new Middletown High School gymnasium, officials said.

Gary Truss was appointed an attorney and will have his preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. July 19.

Gage Truss hired an attorney and will have his pre-trial hearing at 9 a.m. July 25.

Both were released on their own recognizance, according to court records.

INITIAL REPORT, July 11:

Two Middletown teens were charged with breaking and entering after they allegedly broke into the construction area of Middletown High School, 601 N. Breiel Blvd., Tuesday morning, according to the Middletown police reports.

Gary Truss, 19, and Gage Truss, 18, were charged after Middletown police, alerted by a passer-by, found the two in the gymnasium around 2 a.m.

The cousins told police they didn’t steal anything and were just “exploring,” according to the police report.

They were searched and no items were found, police said. They told police they entered the gym through a fence that had been moved.

Gary Truss also was charged with failure to comply.
