Colerain offensive coordinator Ken Meibers, Mason offensive coordinator Darin Little, Kettering Fairmont assistant coach Robert Dement, Grove City defensive coordinator Steve White and Springboro defensive coordinator Nic Black were the five finalists selected from a pool of 17 applicants to interview for the vacant head coaching position.
The interview process began Monday, May 12, when Dement and Little met with Monroe Athletic Director John Singleton, incoming Athletic Director Dave Bauer, principal Robert Leahy, assistant principal Bob Millisor and Greg Gillen, head of the Monroe youth football program.
Meibers, White and Black had their interviews the following day. A second round of interviews was conducted by Lolli and members of the Monroe school board later in the week.
Lolli said the district plans to have a candidate in place by the next school board meeting, Tuesday, May 27. Whoever is selected for the job will have to be approved by the school board before being officially named as the new Monroe head coach.
The job became available when Jason Krause accepted the head coaching job at Middletown in April.
In four seasons at Monroe, Krause went 35-15 and reached the playoffs three times, including two trips to the state semifinals.
