Company laying off 48 in Butler County

Dover Business Services is laying off 48 employees and contractors at 9393 Princeton-Glendale Road in West Chester Twp. later this year.

The company sent a notice of mass layoff to the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services’ Office of Workforce Development in a letter dated Jan. 16.

“DBS expects that the mass layoff will be permanent and impact the majority of the employees at the facility on April 20, 2018 and June 1, 2018,” Jordann Nunn, the company’s director of human resources, said in the letter.

Dover Corporation is a more than $7 billion diversified global manufacturer. Dover Business Services is an independent operating unit within Dover that focuses on providing best-in-class operations in finance, IT and payroll.

“At DBS, we regularly assess our operating model and strategy to ensure we are best positioned to enable continued growth and revenue-generation across our operating companies,” said spokesman Adrian Sakowicz.

As part of that ongoing analysis of the business, DBS is reducing its workforce at the facility, Sakowicz said.

“As with all decisions that could impact our employees, this course was chosen only after careful thought and consideration and DBS is committed to assisting affected employees through the transition,” he said. “Dover and its operating companies will continue to have a significant presence of over 750 employees in the Cincinnati area.”

DBS has been occupying space within Dover’s OPW facility, and will continue to do so, Sakowicz said.

More than half of the positions affected are in accounts payable and account receivable, including analysts, temporary workers and team leaders, according to the letter sent to ODJFS. Forty of the 48 positions are listed as having an April 20 date of separation. The remaining eight positions are listed with a June 1 date of separation.

None of the affected employees are represented by a labor organization, Nunn said. In addition, DBS does not have bumping rights, so employees with more seniority will not displace other employees from their positions at the facility, Nunn said.
