Cold today, but spring-like temps return for weekend

Preble Shawnee Local Schools was the only area school district that opted to cancel classes today after less than one inch of snow fell in the area.

According to its website, the district opted to close instead of delay due to icy roads and temperatures that were not expected to rise fast enough.

Temperatures will climb back to the low 20s this afternoon.

Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the upper 50s as well as scattered showers and storms.

People flying to the northeast portion of the nation, where a winter storm hit, should check to make sure flights have not been cancelled.
