Butler County rescue team training today, Friday at West Chester park

Keehner Park in West Chester will remain open during training event.

If you notice a large amount of law enforcement at Keehner Park today and Friday, don’t be alarmed.

The Butler County Technical Rescue Team is conducting training exercises July 13-14 at the West Chester Twp. park at 7211 Barret Road.

“The specialty training scenario will simulate a missing child in the park in which crews will be dispatched to find and evacuate a training dummy,” said Barb Wilson, a spokeswoman for the township, in a statement.

Signs will be posted indicating that training is in progress, she said. The park will remain open to visitors during normal hours.

Crews will be in Keehner Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, practicing the lost person search. One emergency vehicle will be on scene during training.

Training will be held rain or shine today and Friday, with approximately 15 team members participating each day, according to Wilson.

The Butler County Technical Rescue Team, an effort of the Butler County Emergency Management Agency and Butler County Technical Rescue Governing Board, is comprised of specially trained first responders from public service agencies across Butler County, Wilson said.
