Butler County Board of DD hit with audit findings

The Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities received a few recommendations from the Ohio Auditor’s office to improve its bookkeeping in the future.

The audit of the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years shows a handful of issues, including inaccurate transportation records and inaccuracies in transportation costs. Both are contracted.

Recommendations within the audit request the board fix the root causes of the inaccuracies, which officials have said they are in the process of doing.

“We are very pleased with the audit report for fiscal years 2013 and 2014,” said Hailey Quinn, Business Services Director. “The audit gave us a recommendation for documentation maintenance. We had already fixed that by contracting with a software vendor to keep our data for six years.”

Quinn also said they are in the process of correcting the issues of the costs for contracted transportation so they will meet the requirements.

“We will be seeking a request for proposals this fall from transportation providers for fiscal year 2018 with guidance from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to ensure we meet the requirements,” she said.
