State pays $2.2M for Abbott site

Staff Report

Ohio has awarded Tipp City $1.6 million to prepare 60 acres for a plant which will employ 241 people.

The city will be awarded a “jobs ready site grant” through the Ohio Department of Development, the state said Monday. This grant will ready property for an Abbott Nutrition manufacturing plant.

The Ohio Controlling Board also approved a $600,000 roadwork development grant for the site.

“This is a perfect example of the state’s commitment to have sites across Ohio ready for business opportunities, which results in job growth,” Christiane Schmenk, Ohio Department of Development director, said in a statement. “Assisting companies in these early phases of development will have a direct impact on the economy of our state.”

The Abbott Nutrition property is on County Road 25A in Miami County.

With Tipp City, Abbott will acquire the property and complete infrastructure improvements, including the installation of dual electric feeds, sanitary sewer and a 1,600-foot access road.
