OdorXit product wins EPA approval

By Dave Larsen

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved a disinfectant product by Hamilton-based OdorXit, according to a company media release.

The EPA certified MOMS (Mold Odor Mildew Smoke Sanitizer) as effective as a “high-level disinfectant” against organisms that include bacteria, viruses and endospores. MOMS doesn’t allow organisms to mutate, and it penetrates biofilm, officials said.

Officials said the product kills Legionella’s bacterium, Staph A, the influenza A virus, the e coli bacterium, salmonella enterica and many other microbes on any hard, non-porous surface.

Non-residential applications of the product include medical laboratories, hospitals, medical clinics, medical equipment, pharmaceutical laboratories, food processing and beverage bottling facilities.
