Area nursing home named best in country

U.S. News and World Report named local nursing home Villa Springfield the best nursing home in the U.S. in 2013, according to a press release.

U.S. News collects data on nearly every nursing home in the country from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as well as from states and individual homes. The publication then assigns ratings in three categories: state-conducted health inspections, nursing and physical therapy staffing and quality of medicare. The scores are combined.

The home, located at 701 Villa Road, received a five-star rating. STAFF REPORT

Job fair for military veterans and spouses set

More than 70 employers are expected to participate in a “Hiring Our Heroes” job fair this month in Dayton.

The event, which is sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience. The event runs from 1-4 p.m. March 26 at the Dayton Marriott, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd., Dayton.

The event will also include a free GE employment workshop that features one-on-one mentoring sessions on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

AK Steel names new executive

AK Steel said Thursday that Stephanie S. Bisselberg has been named vice president of human resources, effective April 1.

Bisselberg succeeds Lawrence F. Zizzo , who is retiring on March 31 following a 35-year career in the steel industry, including serving the last nine years as AK Steel’s vice president of human resources.

Bisselberg joined AK Steel in 2004 as assistant labor counsel, and advanced to labor counsel in 2005. In 2010, she was named assistant general counsel, labor.

Prior to joining the company, she was an attorney in the Labor and Employment department of the Cincinnati law firm Taft, Stettinius and Hollister LLP.

Bisselberg holds a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Miami University and a juris doctorate from Indiana University. In April, she will complete the master of business administration program at Xavier University. She is also a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association. STAFF REPORT
