Holiday revenues rise for owner of Kings Island

Staff Report

SANDUSKY — Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., which owns and operates the Cedar Point and Kings Island amusement parks, said Wednesday its Fourth of July weekend revenues rose 2 percent to $372 million from the same holiday weekend last year.

Both attendance and average per-guest spending increased slightly, the company said, while out-of-park revenues, including resort hotels, rose 3 percent.

“While it’s still early in our important summer season, we are quite pleased with these positive trends,” said Dick Kinzel, chief executive officer.  “So far this summer, our western region parks have seen an approximately 8 percent increase in revenues on a year-over-year basis, while revenues at our northern and southern region parks remain comparable to this time last year.”

Cedar Fair is a publicly traded partnership headquartered in Sandusky. It owns and operates 11 amusement parks, six outdoor water parks, one indoor water park and five hotels.
