A Virginia-based defense contractor will establish a regional presence at the Tech Town business park in downtown Dayton, with plans to bring up to 60 new jobs to the area in the coming years, company officials said Friday.

Intelligent Decisions Inc., an information technology company that supports defense, intelligence and civilian organizations, will become part of the Ohio Aerospace Hub at Tech Town, where it will open an office in mid-March at Building 2, officials said.

Dayton will be a regional hub for pursuing U.S. Air Force business across the nation, said Ed Loper, the company’s director of Air Force Operations in Dayton. Intelligent Decisions also has hubs near Washington, D.C. and in Florida, he said.

The company has a temporary office in Beavercreek and about 30 employees working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to support the Defense Logistics Agency and F-22 Raptor Advanced Tactical Fighter program, Loper said. Those employees will remain at Wright-Patt, he said.

That work “has given us an opportunity to take a rapid step forward and position ourselves to go after business within the area,” Loper said.

Intelligent Decision’s research operations at Tech Town will include its Dismounted Soldier Training System, an immersive training technology that allows U.S. soldiers to train in a virtual environment. The system is currently being deployed to 28 Army installations.

Loper said the company also will house sensor and Unmanned Aerial Systems technologies at Tech Town.

“That will be a platforming area for us where we can tie into the University of Dayton, Wright State University and the other speciality groups that are working in Tech Town already,” Loper said.

Loper said his hope is to fill the office, which has space for about 10 people. “Then from there I would like to bring in another 30 to 50 people over the next couple of years,” he said.

Founded in 1988, Intelligent Decisions has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for four consecutive years. The company has about 426 employees, with revenues of nearly $463 million in 2011, according to Inc.
