CFM International receives another larger order with $2.7B value

GE Aviation jet engine joint venture CFM International has signed a deal worth $2.7 billion with a Panama airline carrier.

The deal is with AviancaTaca Holdings for combined orders of CFM International’s LEAP engine still under development and its current engine on the market CFM56. The deal also includes an engine maintenance service package, CFM International announced Monday.

Avianca has been a CFM customer since 2006 and currently operates a fleet of 66 Airbus A320 family aircraft powered by CFM engines, CFM International said.

The announcement follows one made March 7 about a $500 million order for CFM International for CFM56 engines with Hong Kong-based China Aircraft Leasing Company, a new customer.

CFM International is a joint venture between French company Snecma and GE Aviation headquartered in West Chester Twp. GE Aviation is based in Evendale, in suburban Cincinnati.
