CareSource to add 150 jobs statewide by July

DAYTON — CareSource announced Monday that it will create 150 jobs statewide as part of its implementation of a new community-based care management model.

Dayton-based CareSource, a fast-growing Medicaid managed care plan that now covers about 10 percent of all insured Ohioans, plans to implement the new model by July 1.

The patient navigation community model will concentrate on the movement of members along a continuum of medical care, including prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, supportive and end-of-life care, according to a news release.

Dr. Harold P. Freeman, founder of the patient navigation community model, will be at CareSource Wednesday to explain it to legislators, regulators and CareSource clinical staff.

“The new model will not only create jobs across the state, but it will put our patient navigators in the heart of the communities we serve to help our members gain access to important medical care and treatment,” CareSource President and CEO Pamela Morris said in a prepared statement.

As of July, CareSource employed about 845 people in Dayton. Hiring for the additional 150 jobs will be in Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland.
