Beer, wine may be coming to Starbucks in Liberty Center

A Butler County Starbucks is seeking a liquor license that could allow it to serve craft beer and wine.

The location, planned at the recently opened Liberty Center development in Butler County, could be the second Starbucks with an Evenings menu headed to Southwest Ohio based on signage and public records.

A large sign plastered on the side of a building sitting at the corner of Blake Street and Tylers Place Boulevard at Liberty Center promises a new Starbucks opening in Liberty Twp. in 2016.

Based on government records, the Liberty Center shop could also serve more than a caffeine fix and include a new Starbucks concept offering small plates such as truffle mac & cheese and alcoholic beverages.

“We consider a broad range of products and experiences for each neighborhood,” according to an email from a Starbucks spokesperson.

“We’re in the very early stages of considering opening a store in Liberty Township next year. We are also in the early stages of considering this store for the Evenings menu. It’s a long and thoughtful process and the permit filing is just one of many steps we take,” according to Starbucks.

The coffee shop chain has previously sought liquor license approval for its existing Oakwood location off Far Hills Avenue in the Dayton area.

The approximately $350 million Liberty Center mixed retail, office and residential complex opened near the intersection of Interstate 75, Ohio 129 and Liberty Way in October. Anchor tenants include Dillard's department store and Dick's Sporting Goods. More stores and restaurants as well as an on-site hotel are planned to open.
