Airman surprises Middletown police officer dad on Christmas Eve

A Middletown police officer got a very welcome surprise at work on Christmas Eve.

Officer John Palmer's daughter, Airman McKinley Palmer, showed up unexpectedly at the Middletown Division of Police late Saturday afternoon. Her mother, Deborah Ratliff, captured the joyous reunion via a 1-minute, 11-second video and posted it to Facebook.

In the video, Officer Palmer walks into the squad room for his shift and catches a glimpse of his daughter walking over to hug him.

“Oh my God, what are you doing here?” he said, a smile lighting up his face. “Good to see ya!”

After several hugs and pats on the back, father and daughter exit the room and hug again in a nearby hallway.

“What a surprise,” he said, still grinning broadly.

Then, a still-overwhelmed Officer Palmer excuses himself and walks down the hall to “dry my eyes off real quick.”

We pulled off a big surprise for McKinley's dad. She was waiting for him in the Middletown Police Squadroom when he came in from his shift. A big thank you to Kathy Jones for helping us pull it off. Watch the end, good laugh at the end.
