FAIRFIELD — Hamilton senior Kenny Veal took home three titles at the Greater Miami Conference track meet Friday, May 16, at Fairfield Stadium, winning the 200-meter dash and helping two relay teams — 800 and 1,600 meters — take first as well.

Hamilton senior Damien McIntosh won the 110 hurdles. The Hamilton boys finished second overall, the girls were fifth.

The Mason boys and girls teams both took first.

The Lakota West boys won two individual titles — senior Bakari Bussey in the 400 and junior Brandon Candella in the 800 – en route to a third-place finish. The West girls team placed ninth overall.

Fairfield senior Sean McMickle took home the lone GMC title for the Indians, with a win in the 300 hurdles. The Fairfield boys placed seventh, while the girls were 10th.

Veal (22.17 seconds) and Hamilton freshman Kenny Lewis (22.95) took first and second in the 200, and then led the 800 relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 1:28.78.

McIntosh's winning time in the 110 hurdles (15.56) is still a more than a second slower than his target time. "I'm hoping to be around a 14.5 at some point," he said.

Bussey won the 400 with a time of 49.23, edging Princeton's Darrell Gilbert (49.48).

Candella cruised to victory in the 800 in 1:57.87, beating the second-place finisher by almost a second and a half.

McMickle's victory in the 110 hurdles also was decisive. With a time of 39.53, he was several meters ahead of the second-place finisher.

"I worked really hard to get here," said McMickle, who has trimmed more than two seconds off of his personal best during the past year. "I've been running around 39.5 pretty consistently. I want to get it down to around 38.5."

The Hamilton girls team was led by senior Nicole Fansler, who placed second in the discus (114-02) and third in the shot put (35-11.5).

The top five girls teams were: Mason (194), Middletown (105), Sycamore (98), Colerain (79) and Hamilton (41.5). The top five boys teams were: Mason (126), Hamilton (83), Lakota West (80), Princeton (72) and Middletown (66).
