MADISON 7, DAYTON CHRISTIAN 0 (6 innings): Host Madison claimed a shutout win in a Division III sectional semifinal Thursday, May 15, over Dayton Christian. Rain stopped play in the sixth inning, with Madison having scored a run and with two more runners on base and nobody out. The final inning would have been played today, but in a sporting gesture, Dayton Christian's coach conceded the game. Johnny Burley tripled, Andy McCoppin drove in three runs, Ryan Manley scored three runs, Steve Johnson went 2-for-3, and Zach Hembree doubled and drove in two runs in Madison's victory. The Mohawks (17-7) await the winner of today's Badin-East Clinton game. The sectional final is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Centerville High School.
