Smoldering embers from metal-cutting tools are the likely cause of a house fire Monday, March 30, in West Chester Twp., fire officials said today, March 31.
The fire occurred just before noon Monday at 8241 Bay Tree Court in the Beckett Ridge subdivision, according to West Chester Twp. Fire Chief Tony Goller.
Goller said the fire started in the home's garage, and then spread throughout the house. No one was injured, but the blaze caused an estimated $42,000 in damages to the home and approximately $34,000 in damages to the home's contents. Goller said a vehicle inside the garage was destroyed, and a vehicle in the home's driveway was damaged.
The home has an estimated value of $270,760, according to the Butler County Auditor's Office.
With help from the Liberty Twp. Fire Department, crews were able to extinguish the blaze within minutes of arrival, Goller said.
Members of the American Red Cross were also on the scene Monday to assist the family.
