VFWs expand ranks

Two local chapters of Veterans of Foreign Wars are expanding their membership ranks.

The Lebanon and Mason chapters of the VFW have created men's auxiliary units. These units allow for the male relatives of current VFW members to join the organization.

Mason VFW Men's Auxiliary member Jerry Behymer said the program allows members the opportunity to help support veterans and current soldiers serving overseas. He said in recent years, memberships of VFWs across the country have diminished due to the aging of veterans.

A ladies auxiliary already exists with the VFW.

The Lebanon VFW Post 6069 is at 15 W. Silver St. and can be reached at (513) 932-6069. The Mason VFW Post 9622 is at 119 W. Main St. and can be reached at (513) 398-9622.
