MIDDLETOWN — Middletown High School students can get some extra help preparing for the ACT test this month.
For the first time, the high school has been selected as a site for the Total College Prep School Partnership Program, said CEO Andrea Smith, a 2000 Middletown graduate.
The program will bring Miami University professors to the high school for evening tutoring sessions this week and next, ahead of the Dec. 13 ACT test administered at the high school.
The ACT test is commonly required for admittance to Ohio public colleges.
Students receive a sponsorship from the Total College Prep company for tutoring on different tiers, with students qualifying for free lunch receiving five sessions of hours of free tutoring, students in the reduced lunch program receiving a rate of $35 and other students at a rate of $75.
Sessions will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4, 9, 10 and 11.
Middletown is one of 10 high schools in the Cincinnati-Dayton region selected for the program, Smith said.
Head high school counselor Meg Gooch said counselors are also available during lunch Wednesdays in the high school computer lab to assist students registering for the ACT and SAT online. They also help students with online college applications, she said.
