Monroe police raid Trader's World

An undisclosed amount of counterfeit merchandise was seized by Monroe police during a raid of 22 booths at the Trader's World flea market Saturday, May 10. Police said they had received complaints manufacturers of Chanel, Prada and Louis Vuitton products about counterfeit merchandise being sold at the flea market located off of the Interstate 75/Ohio 63 interchange.
Investigators purchased the items and confirmed they were counterfeit. Police made the raid at noon Saturday. Officers logged between 800 and 900 fake items.

All of the vendors have charges pending for selling or possessing counterfeit goods in violation of the Trademark Counterfeiting Act. The investigation is continuing and depending on the amount of merchandise seized from each booth could result in felony charges, police said.
The identities of those involved have not been released as charges have not been filed as of Saturday night.
