Seniors on the ball for billiards battle
Hamilton Senior Citizens Inc. rules the table by 11 balls in this month's battle against the Middletown branch.

HAMILTON — There was joking about who brought the traveling trophy; but Monday, the unseen trophy stayed in Hamilton.
The friendly monthly game of eight-ball at the Hamilton Senior Citizens Inc. center pitted locals against the traveling Middletown Area Senior Citizens Inc. team.

Hamilton resident Gordon Fox sat, clipboard in hand, recording the results of the six-member teams. His final tally showed Hamilton ahead by 11 balls.
Middletown resident Betty Wegley and her husband, Larry, compete regularly with the beige-uniform-shirted Middletown team, which until the Hamilton matchup, had only lost one match this year.
Wegley, one of the few female billiards players in area senior leagues, is a strong competitor.
Despite a smiling promise to let Richard Segal win "this time," the former Nutone credit manager maintained her winning streak.
The Middletown players will return Nov. 26 to the Ross Street center, trying to reclaim their honorary title.
