FAIRFIELD — Jayme Mejia had been at Koch Foods in Fairfield most of Tuesday morning. She had come to Koch with immigration paperwork because her husband's aunt had been detained during a federal sweep that rounded up 180 workers and resulted in the arrest of at least 160.
"I received a phone call to go to the house and get her paperwork," Meija said. "I gave it to the officer and that's it." An officer had told her the aunt, with paperwork, may have been on a bus that left for an undisclosed location.

"But he didn't know," Meija said.
Just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, about 300 agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Fairfield police and Butler County Sheriff's deputies surrounded the Fairfield chicken packing plant at 4100 Port Union Road.
By 11:45 a.m., a line of handcuffed people flanked by police exited the Koch building and walked around the building's side. Less than an hour later, the first of three white school buses with barred windows pulled away.
Brian Moskowitz, the special agent in charge of the raid, said 160 of the 180 people questioned were arrested. Some were charged with state felonies such as falsifying documents, others face federal ID theft and fraud charges.
Other raids at two Koch Foods headquarters in Chicago retrieved records, but did not result in any arrests, Moskowitz said.
"ICE agents are executing criminal search warrants," Moskowitz said. Immigration spokesman Richard Rocha said the operation is the end result of a two-year investigation.
"I've been saying for 2 1/2 years we're coming," said Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones during a news conference Tuesday afternoon. "Don't have illegals. Don't violate the law. I personally have no sympathy for you whatsoever."

It is so sad to read the comments that are posted. Obviously, some of you have way too much time on your hands. I know many HR professionals who are currently having trouble hiring for open positions in their company. Why? Because a lot of Americans are too lazy to apply and many more can’t pass a drug screen. So save your pathetic whining about illegal immigrants taking jobs from Americans. If Americans want jobs, there’s plenty to go around.

After reading the recent posts on this issue, I understand why this is such an explosive issue. I don’t see the issue here as one of racism, christianity, or political. It is a legal question. Anyone and everyone from a foreign country should become citizens in the same way—legally; and employers should be required to obey the law. We are a nation of laws and I still beleive THAT is what has made it great and is the reason so many want to become citizens.

I’m stoked! I was sure the raids were over with the last time the Immigration Bill Jason’d and was then knocked back down.
These raids seemed to serve two purposes in the past. I’m not sure what to think is going on now.???
One, was so the government could pretend to care about enforcement while they carny sold us on a new comprehensive immigration bill.
Two, seemed to be to help establish sanctuary cities.
This is what has happened over and over in regards to the immigration raids in California.
ICE will hold small raids.
The newspapers will start in with the poor illegal aliens being to scared to take their children to school.
Public meeting for the illegal aliens will be organized. In cities around the San Francisco Bay Area the police were involved coaching the illegal aliens how to circumvent the law. Many of the meetings were held in Spanish.
The honest people got upset and formed their own groups. Many visited their city councils. This is the link to one of the news stories of the aftermath.

Many honest people are forming groups in their cities and visiting their local city council meetings.
1 Find a place for a meeting. Libraries or coffee shops are good.
2 Let your local news in on what you are trying to do. Patriots or Minutemen are good key words that will let others know what your group is about.
3 Hold a meeting. Get a small group of people elected to help keep things organized and your group functioning.
4 Visit your local city council or other public meetings and let them know how you feel.
Rallies are a good way to let people in your area know what your group is about. Let the police know when you have a rally planned. To keep your group going it can be helpful to have a flyer ready to let people know of your next meeting or rally.

He has written to the federal government to block any Immigration reform. Unfortunately he claims he is not a racist but has said: English only if you want to be in his county. He is directly responsible for what has happened due to his negative position on immigration reform. Just so everyone knows, the reason so many people enter the country illegally is that the federal government has it backwards. The Federal Government rewards Visas to high paying position like Doctors, Scientist, and Engineers etc. And lower skilled people are excluded from applying; have to weight at least ten years to get a Visa. What would you do if your family was starving and living in utter poverty? You would do what ever it takes to make sure that you could put a meal in your family’s stomach. Sheriff Richard K. Jones is responsible for blocking meaningful reform to the federal immigration laws and has to be held accountable.

A respected work force was lost this week at Koch Foods. These people are doing what our “Great American Workers” won’t do. It’s hot, dirty, and smelly. Most cleaning is done at late night till morning. The replacement people complain all night that the work is to hard and don’t come back. Running a high pressure cleaning hose does not take brains or braun, just a desire to work and do a good job, of which the American workforce of today has lost or never found.

It’s a shame of what happened in Butler Co. this past week. Many families were displaced and a great injustice was done in the name of improper immigration status. The company involved now faces trying to replace these hard working low paid people with the great American work force that is to lazy to fulfill the job requirements of these positions. I watch these jobs being filled with “American workers” (and I use this term loosely) and I see people who have no discipline whats so ever.

It’s a shame California is so bad with illegal immigrants and Mexicans by the truck load. And yet California, all by its self is a third of the U.S. economy. If it were a country it would be the fourth or fifth largest economy on earth. I suspect a lot of that economy is based on the cheap labor of illegal immigrants. You can’t have it both ways, stop whining and enjoy your life. Must you complain about someone else trying to make a living? And don’t forget again California is a third of our economy with the help of all that cheap labor. And apparently giving some of it back has not reduced its economy. Legalatina Great thoughts. We should not allow nurses or doctors to come here. Most of them come from the Philipines, India, Kenya, and several other African countries who need their help there more than here to fix their own countries. They would do better to stay back in their own countries.
That will help our health care costs. But who cares since a lot of us are uninsured anyways. And we can go to Thailand for a cheap hip replacement. We go there for cosmetic surgery anyways!

When the company starts providing TB, AIDS & Hepatitis tests for ALL the employees then come back and tell me how “sterile” the procedures are.

also as far as sanitation goes, there is a 6 hour window of time each night that they sanitize the entire plant. The USDA inspectors are there every day, each shift to be sure food is properly handled and each employee must wear gloves, masks, hair nets, lab coats, and special foot wear. to those of you who bad mouth the company, find something else to do. At least these are people wanting to work.

My husband is a maintenance person at this plant. When he was hired, he had to provide 3 forms of ID for his interview. ALL employees have to provide the same. This company has an outstanding reputation for following law and order. The man in charge of hiring HAS contacted the feds for help, but they do not return his calls or assist him in any way. Part of the 2 year investigation was reports by the company itself. You can only check so many ID’s at a time.

I don’t know what the big fuss is about. These criminals will just come right back when their drug-trafficking hermanos finance their trips back here with a load of cocaine or meth.
