Suggestion powers 'Paranormal Activity'

Glenn Whipp

The Associated Press

"The thinness of the premise is laid bare toward the end, but not enough to erase the horror of those silent, nighttime images seen through Micah's bedroom camera."

"This movie was tons better than the Blair Witch Project, but still not anywhere near one of the best I've ever seen. I had to close my eys on several parts due to the moving camera. If you can stand the camera moving alot, its a fun movie to watch on a boring night."

"I wouldn't say this movie was scary but it was definitely creepy. It's a movie that you need to see in the theaters with your lady. 4/5"

"My husband , daughter and I saw this movie opening night in Shreveport. It was sold out. Not one person walked out or was frightened the was the media portrayed. The last 30 seconds of the movie made everybody jumped in there seats. Save your money, this movie is THUMBS DOWN..."

"The filmmakers thought they needed quick cuts and one nauseatingly shakey camera to keep our attention. Two main actors and two minor actors and one mini-minor in the film for a total of about three minutes and some sound effects that sucked was all there was. If I could have given "0" stars, I would have. To compare this to a Hitchcock flick is like comparing creme brulee to instant pudding. But at least we didn't have to put up with bad acting from Featherston and Sloat, their performances being the only redeaming quality. Even if you liked Rachel's Wedding, The Blair Witch Project and Quarantine, all of which used this camera technique, mature people are not going to like this movie. The film cost about $13,500 USD to make and is currently enjoying a whopping 462,000 percent profit. CHING-CHING, OH YEAH."

"Great story and great acting make for great entertainment. Maybe a little too much foul language. This is a horror movie of the Hitchcock genre. Special effects are minimal and much is left to your imagination, but the creepiness factor is off the scale. Not for little kids or teens who grew up on special effects and need to see unrelenting gore. This is perfect for halloween. Just make sure you close and lock the bedroom door. What was that couple thinking? Despite having a dark presence in their house, they never figured out that maybe, just maybe they should lock the door when they went to bed - not that it would have helped and, of course, keeping the fiend out would have detracted from the sheer terror. Also, at some point, with this demonic presence hanging around the girlfriend, wouldn't most guys have bailed and gone looking for a 'safer' girlfriend...? Sure, she's hot... if not somewhat plump, but hotness only takes you so far."
