IOWA CITY, Iowa — Charges have been filed against three men accused of beating a man who sleepwalks after they found him asleep in one of the men's apartment. Iowa City Police Sgt. Troy Kelsay said the 21-year-oldvictim who was not identified, suffered injuries over most of his body. Kelsay said the man's injuries did not appear to require hospitalization, but the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Three men were charged with willfully causing bodily injury. According to a criminal complaint, the three found the man asleep in an apartment early on Aug. 30. The man was staying across the hall, but did not live in the complex.

Poor joe must not live where there are police available that could check on a sleeping person to see why they are there. It must be terrible to live someplace where you feel the need to beat someone first and then try to find out who they are.

Or maybe joe is just another jerk who likes to hurt people, and would welcome a "justified" opportunity to assault a sleeping or unconscious person. The 3 "men" in this story deserved to be charged. Too bad there's no law against stupid - they qualify.

joe.... so if you have a mentally ill person or some other medical problem its ok for you to beat them? I worked with dementia patients who often went into other peoples rooms and slept in their beds, i guess they should have all been beaten. It makes no difference if its something like that or simple sleepwalking. If they were going through your stuff thats one thing. this guy was sleeping in a bed.... grow up.
